Using Tablets For Surveys

Our group is interested in conducting MediaLab surveys using tablets. What type of tablets would be compatible with MediaLab surveys? (do they need to possess a certain app or feature?) Additionally, how does one go about loading the survey to the tablet and using it? Is data collection from the device difficult?

Tablets which are loaded with the Windows 8 Surface Pro OS will work nicely with DirectRT and MediaLab. Recently these have been selling for ~$800 each.

Unfortunately, the less expensive tablets which run Windows RT OS, which only runs 'apps' instead of full Windows programs, won't work at all in this application.
