Measuring RT on auditory stimulus

Hi everybody,

I'm totally new in DirectRT and I hope i used the right forum. I tried to search if my problem is already discussed in the forum but I haven't found any threads useful for me.

My question: I tried to program a simple reaction time task as auditory version. The task for my participants is to press spacebar as fast as possible when an acoustic tone appears. This signal should be displayed randomly with different delays (from 2000 to 8000 ms).
I did my best to get this into an input file, but especially I don't know how to deal with the time column. I can either write in this column that the signal should be displayed in 2000ms (or another time interval) OR define the key the participants should press to answer, isn't it? I can't do both?

I would appreciate any hints or tips you could give me.
