button box problem with Windows 7 (case 2758)
We are using button boxes we purchased from you several years ago. They've worked perfectly with our XP operating system. We have tried to use them with new computers running Windows 7 and they are no longer working. The computer recognizes the button box, but when you press the buttons, nothing happens. Then suddenly (and intermittently) they work. I've opened up the boxes and checked all the connections and everything looks fine. Suggestions?
Hi Becky,
Microsoft changed the way it handles keyboard-like peripherals in Windows 7. We do have replacement / upgrade firmware available. Sadly, it can only be installed here in our shop.
However, the new version does include the capability to be updated in the field. So should something like this happen again, you can make changes without mailing hardware back and forth.
If you'd like to send the gear back for a quick update, let me know. Send email to 'sales AT empirisoft.com' and we'll take care of you.
