Multiple Randomizations in an Experiment (case 1992)
Multiple Randomizations in an Experiment (case 1992)
Hello,
I'm trying to randomize multiple items in my experiment and they keep being mixed together instead. Basically, I have 5 video files which I want randomized, and 5 questionnaires that I want randomized; but I need the order to stay: video, questionnaire, video, questions, etc.
I also have two conditions, so I've assigned the different sets different numbers within each condition. So condition one's videos are all numbered 1 in BGR and it's questionnaires are numbered 2 and conditions two's videos are 3 and questionnaires are 4.
What is happening instead of all the 1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s randomizing separately is that 1s and 2s are mixing together and 3 and 4s are mixing together.
How do I get MediaLab to keep items with different BGR numbers separated but presented in random orders?
btw, I'm running MediaLab 2010.
In the .exp file you could list movie1, que1, movie2, que2, movie3, que3, etc. Assign each of the movies a *WGR* value of 1 and each of the movie files a WGR value of 2. That will keep the order of movie, que, movie, que, etc., but will randomize the order in which they occur. Did I understand your question?
