Serial Button box with USB adapter?

Serial Button box with USB adapter?

    Hi,

I have an older button box (custom made) with a serial connection. Can anyone give me any idea whether it might work with DirectRT using a serial to USB adapter? If so, any particular type I should try?

My plan right now is just to buy an adapter and give it a try, but I figured I'd see if anyone had any suggestions before I blunder on.

    Thanks,

    Jon

Thanks. I've also just noticed that the connection from my button box is a male 9-pin. The adapters that come up as USB to serial are all male 9 pin as well. Would a gender converter work, or does this indicate I have something else?

Sorry for my cluelessness, it has been a long time since I've had to deal with these older serial connections.

Yes, a simple F-F adapter is all you need. Shouldn't cost more than $1 or so, unles you're shopping at Best Buy. :)
