Preloading sequential images?

I am using DirectRT to set up an experiment that involves flashing
images at a fast rate. I want to flash two images for 50 msec each with no gap between them. But it takes 20 msec to load the images so I get the following timeline:

First image (50ms)
Black screen while loading (20ms)
Second image(50 ms)

Is there any way to have the second image appear immediately by perhaps loading it while the first image is showing?

Yes, that is certainly possible but you would need to present them sequentially on a single trial. As the entirety of any given trial is prepared before the trial begins, you would thus eliminate the intertrial loading time between the images.
