Time restrictions on questions? (case 30280)
Time restrictions on questions? (case 30280)
Hi,
***I am talking about scaled response items***
I have read through the MediaLab v2008 manual and I still have a
couple of questions:
1) Is it possible to place a time limit on answering questions? If so,
how can I do that?
2) If it is possible to place time restrictions on questions, is it
possible to do so in a way such that participants can select their
answers at any time (and change their answers) at any time in a given
time period, but they cannot move forward until the time period has
ended. For example, participants are presented with a question that
will stay on the screen for 2 mins, they can select their answer at
any time during the two minutes and change their answer if they wish,
but they must wait until the 2min are complete before moving on? If
so, could you tell me how to do that?
3) If the above is possible, is it possible to edit the above scenario
such that if participants fail to make a decision within the allotted
time, the program forces a decision (make a decision for them) also
would it be possible to have one answer choice allow them to bypass
the mandatory turn time (the 2mins)?
Thank you so much!
have u figured this out? i am also wondering the same thing.
You can use the d parameter with fill in the blank, recall list, and thought listing items to control the number of seconds the item remains on the screen before automatically moving on to the next item in the .que files. You may also be able to use the Go Back feature to allow participants to change what they type in response.
Please refer to the following sections of the MediaLab manual for more information:
