Repeating a randomly selected stimulus WITHIN a trial

Repeating a randomly selected stimulus WITHIN a trial

I am trying to program a frequency task in which subjects hear a randomly selected word. They are asked to hold this word in memory while a set of 6 words is presented. The set of 6 words includes 1, 2, or 3 instances of the randomly selected target. How can I tell DirectRT to repeat this randomly selected stimulus within the same trial? Moreover, can DirectRT randomize the positions in which the target and foils are presented (while also randoming the order or trial presentations within groups)? Thank you!

If you don't mind creating pseudo-random trials (i.e., predetermining which foils will be paired with your target word), you could simply create stimulus lists that features your target word however many times you want it. For instance,

    Stim list 1:
    !target1
    !foil1
    !foil2
    !foil3
    !foil4
    !foil5

    Stim list 2:
    !target2
    !target2
    !foil6
    !foil7
    !foil8
    !foil9

    ...and so on.

Then, if you use the stim list-random identifier ($), the order of the words will be randomized for each trial. From there, randomize the order of the trials, and you're set.
