Ranking images with DirectRT (case 20529)

Ranking images with DirectRT (case 20529)

I am attempting to program DirectRT to make it so that my participants can rank a set of images in order from 1 to 4, without allowing them to rank multiple images with the same value. Only one of the 4 images will be considered "correct" if it is ranked as #1. I've been searching for hours how I may be able to program DirectRT to do this, but I have not had any success.

I see that on MediaLab, this is feature is easily done without a problem. I was hoping to see a few examples of how MediaLab can do this so that I may base my own design off of a few of the sample examples, some of which have been posted on the Empirisoft Support forums.

    Thanks for the help.

DirectRT does not have a feature that is a direct parallel of the ranking item in MediaLab. However, DirectRT does have a lot of features that could be used to create a ranking of different stimuli. For example, you could tell DirectRT to require multiple keypresses for a single trial to have participants press keys associated with certain stimuli in a particular order like most preferred to least preferred; see this section of the DirectRT manual for more information about this feature: http://www.empirisoft.com/directrt/help/directrt_samples_v2006_require_multiple_keypresses.htm.

I would be more than happy to answer any follow up questions you may have. Just post them here or email me at support@empirisoft.com
