E-Prime Button Box?

  1. #1

    E-Prime Button Box?

    HI Folks,
Is it possible to use an E-Prime 5-button serial button box with Direct-Rt?
If so, what are the Key Codes for the buttons?
    Thanks!

    Hi Lori,

This has come up before I recall. I think it can work but John (our resident hardware engineer) is the guy who can answer this best and he just had a baby on Saturday. So hooray for John :) and no so much for your question :(

He said he'll be checking in for hardware related questions off and on this week. If you don't hear back on this by Wednesday, let me know and I'll do some research into it. --Blair

One question though as I think about this--can it be set up to send text based signals that can appear within a text editor like notepad.exe? Or do you have any other info on the control you have over its output?

    Hi Blair,
Well, Hooray for John, or pehaps his wife??? :)
As far as I can tell, the eprime box has no way to alter or adjust its output.

Maybe there is a program that would encode keystrokes/inputs into the output that would give us what the program/machine thinks it is getting. That would be the easiest way, I think... But I've been wrong before!

I'll get back with you if I don't hear anything by Wed.
    Thanks!

We were never able to get the EPrime button box to work with Direct-RT. We concluded that E-Prime sends some proprietary electronic code to the button box to get it to be recognized.
This a very odd, counter-productive marketing strategy, if you ask me!
