..create a Pop up button that appears after a specified time while viewing a screen?

First question, I am programming a delayed recall task where the subjects have to recall several brand names. They can type in their responses after seeing a cue. Once they start typing the "Continue" button becomes active. However, if they do not type anything, I wanted a prompt to appear after 12 seconds that says "Try to remember the brand name, if you can't, please press the _________ key"
Of course the (___________) key would enable the subject to proceed to the next part of the recall task. Second question, could this be the "Escape" key?
