recording participants during a study
recording participants during a study
Is it possible to record video and to be able to time-lock this video to what is presented on the screen in Medialab and/or DirectRT? We have several studies where it'd be useful to be able to code participants facial reactions during stimulus presentation. If this is possible, what hardware and software would I need?
A few years back we designed some hardware specifically to address this issue.
It's a black box which accepts video from the source of your choice (usually a camera), overlays data on the video frame, ala closed captioning, and outputs video to a VCR, DVD recorder or computer with a video capture card.
It's receives data from within a MediaLab experiment and displays that data on the screen.
For more details, see http://www.empirisoft.com/custom/02.aspx (note we do not generally do custom hardware anymore but depending on the job requirements we remain open-minded!
Also, note that the current version of the system uses a standard serial port, rather than the older parallel port.
