Entering participant's condition into responses.xls

    Entering participant's condition into responses.xls

I'm working on a MediaLab experiment in which I will present participants with varying ratios of congruent to incongruent information (i.e., in/congruent with their preexisting beliefs). I put together a (heinous!) responses.xls file so I can do complex skips, calculated values, etc. Now I'm trying to figure out how I can present the information based on which condition each participant is assigned to (100% congruent, 75% congruent/25% incong, 50% cong/50% incong, 25% cong/75% incong).

The perfect solution would be if there's a way to make MediaLab paste the participant's condition number (1, 2, 3, or 4) into the responses.xls file, using either an autostart file or manual entry of each participant's condition. So at the very beginning of the experiment, when the condition gets assigned (manually or via autostart), I'd like that condition number to get put into responses.xls. Then that number will get used later in the experiment to randomly assign which statements are congruent & incongruent.

Is there a way to get MediaLab to paste the condition number into responses.xls?

    Thank you!

As far as I know, you can enter condition (lower case) into the variable column and it will track the subject's condition. Same with subject for the subject ID. Have you tried that?
